Don't you need to remove the seals and bearings to do that? My dealer made me buy a new set when I got my powder coated rims and they installed them. It looks cheap on eBay but the service manual describes a special tool. I'm sure it doesn't require it, just like the fork job didn't require any of the special tools they described (PVC pipe and a "puller").

I guess it's possible to tape it all off first, but my seal and bearing-less rims were blue inside and out.
