Well, advancing the timing at idle.... Changes the idle speed(advance higher/retard lower). So this means you need to lower idle via the throttle blades. On FI this will also change your tps setting..(dont recall the 250 fi having IAC) On a carb it will change the whole transition for the idle mix/pilot jet transition.
On an fi bike a pc would be a great way to change your timing without affecting idle. Carb bike would be the brt......
