I agree with 90% of everything said in this thread and as a newbie myself, I'm still have a healthy fear/respect for all bikes. I upgraded to a 650 because I looked exceptionally large on the 250. I still love to ride it, and hope to be able to perfect skills on it that'll transfer to the bigger bike.

If he lives in LA I seriously doubt he NEEDS a bigger bike. With all the traffic and stoplights he won't be able to reach the potential of the 250 in daily driving.

But that's just my opinion.
