Ahhhh Ottawa, my home town. Congrats on the new bike! I am around the same spot as you (just a number of years older), just don't have my bike (that's a day or two away). I got my M1 in June and did my course on the Canada Day weekend. I can go in and get my M2 in 3 weeks.
Wish I was still that way, I think there are tons of great roads around Ottawa and even into Hull that would be amazing for learning to ride.

I'm new to Ottawa so I'll definitely have to go exploring. I've been to Gatineau park and that seems like a good spot to ride.
