its up to you but I did have bulbs before I switched to the kit with ballast. The bulbs I didn't like so I just gave them away.. btw, hows texas weather? lol my family lives in roanoke (around the dallas/ft worth area) we go fishing at lake lewisville everytime i visit, not sure if its different from where you are at
but texas has good fishing! and hunting
