They're called tear offs and MX riders use them AFAIK I've never seen a road racer using tear offs.

Bugs on the shield? That's not really much of a problem. Try being completely blinded by mud, sand or rain and trying to maintain top speed at the same time. I'm starting to think it should be a mandatory requirement that all motorcyclists start on the dirt before even getting near a street machine. It would teach everyone a lot about dealing with ****. If my screen gets really bad I just lift my visor. Hell, most of the time I have my visor open anyways, so my visor never really gets that bad in the first place.

I just give the visor a good elbow grease scrubbin' with water when it gets really nasty.
