I am doing a retrofit into my pregen headlight in my dorm room. It's really not bad at all. Get a projector for the low and leave the halogen for the high. It doesn't take long at all to get it apart (with some planning ahead of time) and as long as your headlight is deep enough, installing the projector isn't bad at all. Took my 30 minutes to get the whole thing apart, including the 15 minutes it took to bake it in a box with a friend's hairdryer.

If you're just doing HID in the oem reflector, 1) aim it down 2) keep the halogen in the in the high beam side so you can flash high beams if needed.
