I'm right there with you!
I know the good times to ride the path near where I live. There are a lot of baby climbs on the route, so it is a good workout for the 40-mile out and back ride. The little hills occur for about 1/3 of the ride in the middle. So I have plenty of warm up time and plenty of cool down time.
As for the typical path person, my personal favorite are the 3 or 4 ladies that must walk side by side and take up the whole path. Then you yell "on your left" and two of them move left, and two move right. Yeah, I'm on their left, and now I must do a last minute correction to split the group. lol
I do like taking my MTB out there, then I just fly through the grass.
