I have read that riding with the highlight depletes the battery... I don't know if I believe it, but no, I don't ride with my highbeam on during the day.
The instructor at my MSF course was a strong advocate of riding with the highlight on during the day, though.
Do you have an alarm wired to your bike, maybe?
