In my experience riders of older generation bikes have a "get off my lawn" attitude to newer bikes, I see it all the time. The old bike had a horrid power band pared with the most clunky shifting transmission I've ever used. In my opinion the only attribute in which the older bike is better is in top end which was hardly usable around town anyway which was what the bike was mainly for.
