i'd only buy an aftermarket shock if you were going to race or maybe if you're a serious track junkie. a properly setup shock is amazing, but probably not necessary for riding around the streets.
at this price point though, i'm sure it wouldn't hurt! the problem is knowing how to set it up.... it takes a little magic and its highly recommended that you get a professional to help you dial it in.
