I could be wrong and am just talking out my butt, but are they an anodized aluminum alloy? If so it is not uncommon to see slight color variation from batch to batch.
Mine are definitely not true black but i think they are more black than yours. My WC rearsets are definitely more true black than the my clip on clamps.
