A nice little trick I use when a car is getting too close is to do a few quick counter stear swirves, when they see you spread out a bit in the road and lean left to right they seem to get the idea they are probably too close and fall back, I normally tap my brake a couple times after too so the light flashes at them and I get a little closer to them so they really get the idea.
