It's not the exhaust valve, not sure what it is but it's a known problem for a lot of owners. My slip on didn't eliminate the problem. It used to take 3 or 4 tries to start a cold bike. Around 400 miles it would take no more than 2 tries sometimes it starts on the 1st try.
