How about wearing a reflective vest? You know, something that doesn't piss off/blind other motorists (including motorcyclists).
Back on topic, I use my low-beams all the time. I only use hi-beams when I need the extra light output so I can see the road/debris.
I bought the bike with HIDs in the stock housing and the best mod I did was throw them in the trash and replace them with regular halogen bulbs.
