DeVault's Triumph Tiger 100
A 73-year-old man from Omaha is being reunited with his motorcycles, 46 years after he reported it stolen.
Californian authorities recovered his 1953 Triumph Tiger 100 at the Port of Los Angeles after U.S. Customs & Border Protection agents carried out a check on its identity and realised that it was on a stolen register.
Donald DeVault had owned the motorcycle for a year. He reported it stolen from his front yard in February 1967 and never heard about it since.
It was valued at $300 (£200) back then but on the shipping documents, the bike was valued at $9,000 (£6,000). The motorcycle was on its way to Japan and it's in almost exactly the condition it was when it was stolen, with the bespoke 'Li'l Blue Bitch' still airbrushed on the side of the petrol tank. DeVault says that he is going to have '46 years later' airbrished on the tank when he gets his motorcycle back and this time, he's going to store it in his lounge.
