Economists point out that this approach leads to mediocre end results. For the human psyche having no "skin in the game" always results in reduced satisfaction. There comes a point in the process where you have to get off that train and make a personal-value decision (and getting all ironic and declaring that your personal-value decision is to continue on the "best bang for the buck" path isn't an option).
