Awesome thread! I'm a non-fiction type, so in no particular order, here are books that gave me quite a lot of insight/knowledge:

1. The Ethical Slut: A Practical Guide to Polyamory, Open Relationships & Other Adventures by Dossie Easton and Janet W. Hardy
2. Sexual Fluidity: Understanding Women's Love and Desire by Lisa M. Diamond
3. Atheism: The Case Against God (The Skeptic's Bookshelf) by George H. Smith
4. Random anarchist pamphlets
5. Little House on a Small Planet, 2nd: Simple Homes, Cozy Retreats, and Energy Efficient Possibilities by Shay Salomon, Nigel Valdez and Frances Moore Lappe
6. Real Goods Solar Living Source Book - Special 30th Anniversary Edition: Your Complete Guide to Renewable Energy by John Schaeffer
7. Random bits and pieces of information on the internet via StumbleUpon

I am currently reading (rather slowly): The Intelligent Investor: The Definitive Book on Value Investing. A Book of Practical Counsel (Revised Edition), it's already becoming a favorite. Probably missing a few others, but can't think of them atm.
