Hello John, $100 for a set of tires is pretty cheap. Luckily you have the pre-gen with 16" wheels.

Shinko 712 rear: 130/90-16 for $65.99
Shinko SR740F front: 100/80-16 for $45.99
I have the 712 rear on my '04 250 and it's a decent tire, don't know about the 740, but for $112 total I don't think you'll find a cheaper set of tires. Even the pirelli scooter tires come in at a higher price.
