I'm far from an expert (so I figured I should give my opinion ), but I was thinking the PreGen swingarm was more like the EX500 swingarms, and the NewGen would offer a little more room - that's part of why I switched to it on my 500. The Gen1 had a rear drum, so there's a lot of difference back there between the two (and another reason to upgrade to the Gen2 parts). With the PreGen being a disc, I wasn't sure how easily you could swap the 16" stuff over, if you wanted to keep it for style or other reasons.

If you can just bump the wheel back a bit with a different sprocket or chain and get enough clearance, that's probably a whole lot easier though.
