I rattled off the VIN plate attached to the steering neck when I went to an ADV meetup a few years ago... The key to off road is slow and balance.... You can do some pretty crazy stuff with things that aren't designed to do it. Search for Geek and his Loser on advrider.com. Probably the best example of a road bike doing some knarley off-road riding...
