When I put on a GSXR 750 shock, I pressed the upper bushing out, And did not drill it to a larger ID. I put in a 16mm x 22mm piece of tygon tubing and a metal bushing that fit the diameter of the original upper mounting bolt. Nice press fit. All easily serviced if necessary. Drilling out the bushing leaves very little metal, and not much room, if any, for error.
