My Specialized HRS Disc 29-er is a great bike, but that base fork is heavy. It is like butter on the road though. I mean, there is nothing else like a spring based fork. However, once you hit a little trails, it bottoms out easily. Upgrading to an air model transformed my bike (and gave me some extra travel). If I want it smooth, I can drop the pressure, which I would do if I rode any endurance road charity rides.
