The way you describe it, seems like some slippery substance on the street (anti-freeze, Diesel, oil, etc.).
Cars and trucks love dumping fluids on the outside strip of city turns.

Unless you give a lot of gas at once, over-torque slides do not happen so suddenly, normally.
