[visordown.com] - Triumph India compensates owners for underpowered Street Triples

TRIUMPH India is compensating Street Triple owners after tests by the country’s automotive research association ‘ARAI’ showed that the middleweight naked sold there made only 80hp.

Despite the company’s website and brochure claiming that the bike made the same 106hp as the European version, Triumph India was actually selling Brazil-spec models with detuned engines, which cope better with bad fuel.

The British firm is now getting in touch with owners to offer a choice of two compensation packages.

Owners can accept Rs. 1 lakh (£1,013) cash back or can choose Rs. 1.5 lakh (£1,520) worth of Official Triumph accessories, which includes styling upgrades, aftermarket exhaust systems and riding gear.

The compensation scheme is only being offered to existing Street Triple owners. New customers will have to pay the full listed price now that Triumph has rectified the claimed power figure on their website and brochure.
