Which just goes to show we are all different.
Some 50 year olds still don't have the maturity to ride a liter bike. Others have the maturity to do so in their teens. The key here is to take personal responsibility for the real extra risks involved for an inexperienced rider.
If you can look yourself in the mirror and say, "I know I can do this responsibly, with the admitted greater risks involved", I say have at it. I can't say that I'd make the same decision, but people get away with lot of things I wouldn't do.
