The center stand keeps the spring arm unsprung, which makes it easier to get behind the tire when you need to. I'm also not convinced that the stands are that secure with the pregen. The newgens have a place for spools to go I think.

Another thing about the center stand is that it gives twice the support of the side stand so it will hold the bike up on softer sand than the side stand will. Of course, you should always carry a plate with you to use for that purpose, but if you forgot, you can use the center stand if you have one.
