Intentional hijack here: how often do you find that a dirty old set of carbs actually need to be sync'd when nobody has messed with the sync screw? I've always assumed that if the sync hasn't been messed with, I have no reason to.

This comes from a former mechanic friend of mine who said "everybody wants us to sync their carbs and none of them ever need it!" His point being they were just dirty, but people hear the word "sync" and think "I want that".
