I like the KLR650 and the KLX250s. And both are around and priced right. I heard the same thing - small ds better off road, large ds better on road. Either one would be fun for me though.

The wr250R and the KLX250 are also bikes I have been thinking about picking up. I have also considered plating a KTM 525EXC or a WR250F.
