I came across this link, and quickly decided to try one out. It's a "no-cut" flasher for the 2008 Ninja 250R's rear brake light. Basically, you take off your rear seat, you unplug the brake light harness, and plug this gadget in between, you stick the small unit into an empty spot with the included 2-sided tape, and you're done. I just finished installing it, it works exactly as described, and is a piece of cake to install (and uninstall, if you like).

You have a choice of having it flash about 5 times then go solid, or about 10 times and go solid, by cutting the green wire. I've attached a PDF of the ebay auction which includes detailed pics. Does this have a reset period? Or does it flash every time you brake? Read the webpage and didn't find anything about this. If I'm in stop and go traffic, will it be flashing "all the time"?
