There is a lubrication chart .
Everything gets a different lube. From thick grease to very thin oil and everything in between. At the main spring there is a high load and torque from the spring. But the gears are moving very slow. As we move along the gear train the gears speed up and the load goes down . Until you get to the last gear. It is moving very fast but has no load. So all the oils have a different quality. And grease is used on the parts like the winding gears.
The important thing is the oil must only be in places it is needed. Any extra oil will collect dirt or smear around and contaminate other oil. So very little amounts of the correct oil is applied to the exact point it is needed. It’s an art to doing it properly. I try not to make a mess of that.
