I know the pre-gen bikes (up till 2007) came with .44 kg/mm springs. I doubt Kawasaki would have upped the spring rate by too much over that in the 2008 re-design.

In the pre-gen bikes it seems that people always prefered more (by a pretty good bit) spring rate than the stock setup: 160 pound or less guys tend to go .65 kg/mm, 170 to 190 pound guys using .70 to .75 kg/mm, and the heavy boys on .75, .80 or even .85 kg/mm.
