A DRIVER who killed a motorcyclist and his 16-year-old daughter, after parking her vehicle in the middle of the road to let a family of ducks cross, has received a 90-day prison sentence.
Emma Czornobaj has also been banned from driving for 10 years and must complete 240 hours of community service.
A jury convicted her of two counts of criminal negligence causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing death, after she parked her car in the overtaking lane of a motorway in Montreal, Canada in 2010, leading to the fatal collision with rider Andre Roy and his daughter Jessie.
The 26-year-old woman will reportedly serve her prison sentence on weekends.
Speaking of Czornobaj, Pauline Volikakis, the wife and mother of the victims, said: 'She never once tried to contact me,
Explaining that she once ran into Czornobaj in a bathroom during the trial, 'She held a straight face and looked the other way,'
Prosecutor Annie-Claude Chasse said: ‘What we hope is that a clear message is sent to society that we do not stop on the highway for animals. It’s not worth it.’
