I did similar to my older, carbed Ducati..carbs out 5-10 minutes tops....no longer requiring battery and some ignition components to be disturbed.

Every manual shows how to pull the carbs. I like this as it just makes it easier.
I bought this '04 after it was left outside, a non runner. I removed most of the tupperware, seat, tank, air box, battery box and I had both halves of the rear fender off. My buddy came by to drop off tires, when he told me how to mod the box. If I didn't have so much of the bike apart, I might have thought about it, but it was too easy to not make carb work easier.
