Yeah, for us experienced folks it seems obvious. But for new folks, it's a process that seems to be missing and needs to be taught.
Like with wiring. Someone posts that they found free wire-end on their bike. Then asks where it should be plugged in. Well, wires, like hoses, have 2 ends. Tracing that wire to other end will give you tonnes of data to fix. Like if it connects to a light bulb, or to a turn-signal, or to start-button. All useful data that didn't exist before.
So if that hose connects to carb-vent, or carb fuel-inlet, or to gas tank. All that info tells us way, way more than random free end of hose with non-OEM fitting at end.
