Yes I was wearing it and I can confidently say that it saved my life. When I went down it was around 35 mph and the helmet made contact with the ground about 4 times hitting it and bouncing back up repeat let as I was sliding. I know how it feels because something similar happened to me.
The noises of the helmet hitting the road that you feel from inside the helmet are awful !!!
The flash could be associated to temporary disturbance of the optic nerves or the retinas.
It may not be urgent, but if you can, see an ophthalmologist.
As for the possible concussion, it is important that someone observes your pupils for several days.
Different dilatation should make you go to an E.R. as soon as possible.
Wish that it is nothing to worry about.
Slow down a little for curves.
