Not on any I've seen. One of my friends with an '03 has green bike and had a black gas cap and he polished his cap, too.

If they made it raw aluminum, it would look bad because they cast the caps, and cast aluminum looks bad and is rough unless polished or machined, trust me on that. To make them look good, the boys at Kawasaki would have to either:
A) Machine the tops (expensive).
B) polish the caps(also a waste of time for employess).
or C) sand or sand blast them (Also costs money).

And you have to be more careful with these polished/sanded/machined parts or you will ruin the finish on them. Paint is harder to make look bad, easier to keep parts uniform looking.
