V belt or toothed belt?
looks like a toothed belt. Harley's use a toothed belt.
V belts are horrible for efficiency and belt life because they create quite a bit of friction and heat between the belt and the sheaves.
Toothed belts (or timing belts, etc), on the other hand, don't require quite as much tension for a given load, they also aren't requiring any clamping force to transfer power, which helps them run cooler than V belts. Cooler belt = longer belt life.
