Yup, you may notice when assembling that there's some jiggling play with float valve. Rubber hardens over time. Inspect rubber tip under magnifying glass and you will see that tip may no longer be conical in shape. Sometimes, there's ring-shaped depression where it was seated. With these irregular shapes and jiggling, sometimes tip won't seal and you get overflow.

Best to replace all rubber parts. Will need to separate carbs to replace fuel-rail O-rings.
