No, it's really just a stretchy pants that hold armor. You'd still need some sort of outer protection. If you want to just wear your work pants it's probably easier to get some overpants and just take them off when you get there.
Everywhere I work, I always have a locker room type place to change and keep stuff so I probably have it a little easier.
