Aftermarket mirrors with turns signals

Ok. So I bought some aftermarket mirrors equipped with turn signals in them. I had contacted a local dealer to see if it was possible to order turn signal harness pig tails. I was planning on trying to make a decent attempt on wiring these up and at least make them look like belong (using solder) instead of some cheap but connectors and tape, ect.

Anyways, when I told the guy at the dealer about what I was trying to do, he told me that (which I figured he was trying to get me to bring it in so they could work on it) I would have to bring the bike in and let them do it because "they would have to add in resistors and change up the whole harness otherwise the harness would not be able to handle the extra load". To me that did not make sense about the resistors and it is not like I am trying to wire up something that is going to draw great amounts of amps or voltage. I figured I could 3-way splice into the turn signals on the side and run wire up to the mirrors and make a plug.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Has anyone does this before?
