I know, but that's what's great about doing your own work. You can take as much time as you like and make sure the work gets done properly the first time around. Who do you think would put more care into your work... you or a mechanic being paid x amount of dollars per hour? See the incentive for them to rush?

If it were something way complicated, I might agree with you, but if you have some degree of mechanical skills, the right tools and arm yourself with all the knowledge you can gather on the subject, you'll be surprised how easy the job can be.
