I shipped my CRF and my daughter's TTR from NB, Canada to MB, Canada. Its 4000 kms (2485 miles). A bike shop in NB loaded both bikes and a bunch of parts, stand, gas cans, etc. into a crate from a BMW motorcycle. The move went very well with zero damage.
That's crazy they won't rent you a trailer. How about a hitch mounted motorcycle carrier?
