When I was at NCM raceway for a track day, the parking lot had autocross time trials set up with cones on a course. It was a full timed setup with sensors and a time result board. Pretty cool. There were quite a few cars there, but really only 2 different cars: Corvettes (expected at NCM) and Miatas. And surprisingly, the Miatas were just as fast on the course. All types were there, serious $$$ builds and cars right off the street. The Vettes would struggle not to spin out, but the Miatas darted around the course with ease. Was fun to watch between sessions.

If you're in Western NC, you should check it out and see how to get involved. NCM can't be more than a 5 hour drive for you. But even if not that, get a bunch of cones, find an empty parking lot and make your own race course.
