Hmmm, I don't have any issues with brake. I slide axle in from right-side and it keeps caliper holder in place while I slide wheel up. I was thinking along similar lines, but instead of bolting, I would just drill holes through both and use locating-pins/dowels.
Another thing I was looking at was making new caliper holder to place caliper under swingarm. Then I can install swing-arm brace on top.
