Good to hear you've got safe tank! Bummer recall was only for 2004-2007 bikes. I ended up getting used un-punched tank, but it's red instead of yellow.

Also good idea to get motorcycle smart-charger ~$10. Don't use car-charger as it'll fry your battery. Bike chargers typically have about 1-amp charging current and turns to float mode when battery's fully charged. Put battery on charger overnight, then do following.

Do you have multimeter? Do these tests to verify condition of battery:
1. battery voltage with bike OFF
2. battery voltage while cranking
3. battery voltage while bike is idling.

Don't want to be stranded out middle of nowhere and can't start bike. Although you can always bump-start it. Even bad battery typically have enough juice to power coils for bump-starting even if it's not powerful enough to run starter.
