The easiest way to remove it is to take out these 2 bolts. If you remove the adjuster then you will have to set that back up during re-installation. Removing the 2 I outlined in the pictures leaves the setting the same as long as you line up the 2 alignment marks on the shifter shaft when you put in back together. It's 2 tiny circles that is punched in both the silver shaft and also in the painted shifter.
