These do work! It makes all the dead photos alive again, so you can view them as usual.
Note that it works only for the computer that has it installed, and doesn't fix the deleted images for others.

I've downloaded all my photos off Photobucket and have been using Flickr to host them. Still might run my own Coppermine photo-gallery server perhaps...
