Lane splitting where it has always been, like here in the uk is fine because car drivers are used to it.
The whole London dispatch rider scene exists on the back of lane splitting to cut through the traffic. The only problems in London come from foreign drivers who don't know our laws.
The problem US authorities would face would be a spike in lane split accidents after the laws were changed. You and I know that after 6 months it would normalize but opponents would surf that spike all the way to repeal of the liberation
