You will probably clear some of the clog by just riding it but they won't be super clean, second best to giving them a proper clean would be to "seafoam" the bike, I havn't done this myself but the product looks like it does good work from what I have read.

I think it's a detergent that dissolves carbon and varnish, and lubricates.
